open tooth-yanked mouth
propped against a wall of heat
gumming at the stars
crumpled and bloodsoaked
recommendation letter
in left-hand pocket
ring finger hacked off
two fists tightened—
nightchilled/incomplete
those pleas for mercy
whisperscreamed repeatedly—
littered around corpse
